English Riding: We offer a relaxed and affordable opportunity for horse lovers to experience the joy of riding a horse. Ellee Pride has over 30 years (I started at birth...) of experience as an Instructor with beginners as her specialty.

Child behavior experts believe that children learn more and RETAIN more while at play - espescially in a group of  their peers. We believe that too! Our lessons are in a group  maximum of 6 where timid riders can SEE a more confident rider "survive" something new - and usually gain the confidence to try. More confident {brave} riders can shine , and gain confidence by helping and encouraging others. They all have FUN = WIN WIN!

Horsemanship: You will learn many of the subtle ways horses tell you what they are thinking (thus allowing you to stay as safe as possible). You will learn grooming (bonding), tacking, horse care and much, much more.

Recreational Vaulting - & Mounted Games

Our ENTIRE program is a hands on horse experience!!

“The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a child”

Horses have a great deal to offer - if presented in the proper way.

1)      They will teach: patience, understanding, forgiveness, fair treatment, – They will freely give these and demand that you give these qualities in return. It is the nature of the beast.

2)      They will teach the child to be aware of their surroundings (from a blowing blade of grass to a speeding car). Keeping safe when riding is a partnership between horse and rider.

3)      Horses will teach humility. They have a wonderful sense of humour and just when you believe yourself to be “all THAT”, they will hand you a curve ball, preferably when there is an audience!

4)      Horses teach acceptance.  Just as every person is different; every horse is different as well; you will learn to remember and accept each ones particular needs. They do not care about your age, what you look like or what clothes you wear, all they ask is that you are kind and fair.

5)      They teach the benefits of hard work. They will instil self-confidence, as they will let you know instantly when you have reached your goal.

6)      They will teach pride for a job well done. Taking a horse from a mud encrusted “swamp creature” to a shining steed…mastering the rising trot…adjusting your own stirrups…teaching a young horse to overcome its fear of the unknown…or just getting ON the horse with no help!

The emphasis here is not on competition, or showing.

We have 3 goals:

(1) To create competent,  thinking riders that will be as safe as possible on and around horses - whether they choose to showjump or ride bareback around a field.

(2) To create responsible, knowledgable future horse owners - and therefore create safe homes for horses.

(3) TO HAVE FUN WITH HORSES!!

Pride Stables Staff

Head Instructor/Manager/Trainer: Ellee Pride

(This is where I tell you about myself ...in third person...)

Ellee has trained with; Glen Bishop, Olympian Robin Hahn, Olympic Team Dressage Coach Ralph Mortimer and Olympian Conrad Homfeld to "name drop" a few!

She has been riding since 1971 , teaching/training since 1977 and owned horses since her first purchase in 1980.

Through the years Ellee has sucessfully trained/retrained a number of horses. Taking backyard horses and foals to capable ,safe mounts and taking  PMU foals from being terrified and untouched "throwaways" to well mannered, safe pleasure mounts.

Ellee believes that horses (and riders) that have the proper basics can then become almost anything - it is not the price tag nor the fancy braids or expensive tack that make a great horse (or rider).

ImageEllee is certified with St. Johns Ambulance for both CPR and Emergency.

"It is my heart's desire to share the world of horses with every child that has the 'need' - and it is a NEED - to be around a horse."

Our Senior Staff - Taylor, Rose and Kylee.

Our 2009 Junior Staff -Kelsey, Gwen and Ashlee

And honourable mention to Danielle and Hannah and Jamie!

** These young adults have had a major role in the ground manners, backing and training of our horses. They used care, thought, extreme patience, and at times – sheer will - to help these horses become happy, safe , friendly and productive. They give teenagers a good name and I am proud to have them here.  They work well with the campers and activley participate in our program.

We are a private facility and do not board horses.

BUT - if you are in an emergency situation and need stabling for a mare or gelding - short term - we will help if we can!

Our horses are family - and NONE of them are for sale
